Torrent Pharmaceuticals is recalling an additional 104 lots of losartan blood pressure tablets, according to an FDA notice.
The recall includes both losartan potassium tablets and losartan potassium hydrochlorothiazide tablets.
The recall is due to the presence of N-Nitroso N-Methyl 4-aminobutyric acid, a potential human carcinogen. Torrent already recalled three lots of losartan on March 15 and 114 lots of losartan on March 1.
Torrent's recall is the latest in a string of voluntary recalls by distributors and drugmakers related to a class of drugs known as angiotensin II receptor blockers, used to control blood pressure. The recalls are related to the detection of various cancer-causing impurities.
