An Oklahoma judge has declined to approve an $85 million opioid settlement between Oklahoma and Teva Pharmaceuticals until attorneys from both sides provide more information about the deal, according to legal news website Law 360.
Cleveland County District Judge Thad Balkman said June 10 that the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office must file paperwork showing how the distribution of the proposed settlement agreement will comply with a new state law.
The new state law, passed after Purdue Pharma paid Oklahoma $270 million to settle opioid charges, requires that any settlement funds go directly to the state treasury.
