The Pharmacy Quality Alliance has published a resource guide to aid pharmacists in implementing services that target social determinants of health.
"We believe this is the first resource guide that catalogues pharmacist and pharmacy-centered SDOH services," the group said.
The guide offers real-world examples of services pharmacists can implement to address the following barriers:
–Cost of medications
–Cultural or literacy barriers
–Decent, safe and affordable housing
–Food security
–Screening for unmet needs
–Social isolation
–Transportation
The Pharmacy Quality Alliance said the guide may be expanded or updated in the future.
