Pfizer CEO tests positive for COVID-19 again

Pfizer Chairman and CEO Albert Bourla, PhD, tested positive for COVID-19 six weeks after his first bout, he said in a Sept. 24 statement.

Dr. Bourla said he has not received the recently-authorized, omicron-tweaked COVID-19 booster because the CDC recommends waiting three months after infection before receiving the shot. In the Aug. 15 statement about his first COVID-19 case — before the modified booster was authorized — Dr. Bourla said he was fully vaccinated and boosted.

He said he is currently "feeling well and symptom free."

"While we've made great progress, the virus is still with us," Dr. Bourla said.
