Penn Highlands acquires 9th pharmacy

A ninth retail pharmacy has been acquired by DuBois, Pa.-based Penn Highlands Healthcare, The Bradford Era reported Aug. 19.

Brockway Drug is the health system's second retail compounding pharmacy.

Penn Highlands COO Mark Norman told the publication the health system targets drugstores for acquisition that are close to Penn Highlands physician offices and other healthcare facilities as a convenience for patients.

"It’s all about having a nice continuum of care. In today’s environment, you can’t just be a hospital," Mr. Norman said.

Details of the transaction were not disclosed, according to The Bradford Era.
