Oscar Health drops Walgreens from pharmacy network

Oscar Health, an insurer headquartered in New York City, has dropped Walgreens from its pharmacy network, according to Crain's New York Business.

With the change that became effective Jan. 1, Oscar customers can't access in-network rates for medications at Walgreens locations, and purchases won't help customers reach their deductibles.

The health insurer will instead direct its New York members to CVS or Capsule, an online pharmacy. It also contracts with some independent pharmacies in the state.

Oscar Health started on the ACA marketplace in New York in 2013. It has now expanded into 15 states and has 250,000 individual and business customers, according to the report.
