Orlando (Fla.) Health said June 3 it has opened a new specialty pharmacy across the street from its Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Fla.
The Orlando Health Scripts Specialty Pharmacy will allow the health system to continue to care for patients following difficult-to-manage disease diagnoses. It will employ 10 workers, with plans to expand to 40 workers in the coming years.
"We began conceptualizing this pharmacy a few years ago, so to see it complete and ready to meet the needs of our patients is really exciting," Jennifer Williams, the pharmacy's manager, said in a news release. "This facility will allow us to better provide the needed complex medications for patients battling serious illnesses, teach them how to use these medications and find ways to reduce the financial impact of the costs of the medications."
