More legal action expected against PBMs

Court documents filed by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost reveal that the state is planning more legal action against pharmacy benefit managers, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

PBMs, such as CVS Caremark, Express Scripts and OptumRx, administer drug benefits for state health plans and state agencies.

In March, Mr. Yost sued OptumRx on behalf of the Bureau of Workers' Compensation to recoup $16 million in alleged overcharges. The suit claims that OptumRx violated terms of its contract.

Recent court filings indicate that as many as seven more legal actions could be on the way.

The potential legal battles come after Ohio commissioned an outside law firm to investigate PBMs.
