Lunds & Byerlys, a supermarket chain in the Minneapolis-St. Paul region, will shut down all of its pharmacies due to significant losses, according to Fox 9.
The closures, coming July 16, will affect 14 pharmacies. Prescription files will be transferred to Walgreens.
Twenty-seven pharmacy managers and staff pharmacists will be affected.. Pharmacy managers will have the opportunity to interview for open positions at nearby Walgreens locations.
"Unfortunately, it has become increasingly difficult for retail pharmacies, given a number of economic challenges within the industry," a Lunds & Byerlys spokesperson told Fox 9. "As a result, we have continued to incur significant losses in our pharmacy operations, and it is no longer feasible to continue offering this service."
