Kaiser pharmacists secure mid-contract wage increases

UFCW 3000, a union representing about 50,000 workers at health systems, retail stores and other businesses in three states, said it secured wage increases for some Kaiser Permanente employees.

The union's Pro Tech Optical and Pharmacy has worked over the last two years to convince the Oakland, Calif.-based system to agree to market rate adjustments, according to an April 2 news release. Union members in Washington will soon review and discuss the proposed mid-contract wage increase.

"Kaiser Permanente Washington is pleased to have reached a tentative agreement with UFCW 3000 for a mid-contract wage adjustment," a health system spokesperson told Becker's. "This agreement demonstrates our commitment to continuing to provide excellent, market-based compensation and deep appreciation and gratitude for our employees. It will help ensure we remain a best place to work and provide care."
