The Bay Clinic, a primary care provider with eight locations in East Hawaii, opened its first in-house pharmacy last week, according to the Hawaii Tribune-Herald.
The new pharmacy, located at the Keaau (Hawaii) Family Health and Dental Center, offers patients medications at a discount and aims to be a one-stop shop for Bay Clinic patients.
The pharmacy is operated under the 340B drug discount program. The program requires drugmakers to offer medications at discounted prices through providers that serve vulnerable patient populations.
Only Bay Clinic patients can fill prescriptions at the new pharmacy. Patients can order medications from the new pharmacy and have them delivered to any of the eight Bay Clinic locations on the island. Delivery should take about a day.
Bay Clinic patients can fill prescriptions at Walgreens pharmacies at the same discount, but the new Keaau pharmacy will help increase access to these medications, according to the report.
