Gilead warns of counterfeit HIV meds at some US pharmacies

Gilead issued a warning Aug. 5 that counterfeit and tampered versions of its HIV treatments Biktarvy and Descovy are circulating among U.S. pharmacies.

The drugmaker said distributors not authorized to sell these medications have sold counterfeits to pharmacies using genuine Gilead bottles that have been tampered with a counterfeit foil induction seal or label and contain bogus pills.

Gilead is working with the FDA to alert affected pharmacies and remove counterfeit and tampered medication from circulation.
