The fully remote PharmD program at University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science in Aurora has received full accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.
Launched in 2021, the Rocky Mountain Remote PharmD program offers real-time, synchronous classes to remote students using video conferencing. Students are required to attend in-person training twice a semester, according to a July 30 news release from CU Pharmacy.
Brian Hemstreet, PharmD, senior associate dean for student affairs at CU Pharmacy, said the program was developed to provide greater access to students who cannot move to the Denver area.
"This is most often because of the increased cost of living in Colorado compared to other regions," Dr. Hemstreet said. "But also may be related to students having family commitments at home or the desire to be close to their support system while completing the program. By making the program more accessible, we will also continue to add to the already rich diversity of our student body."
CU Pharmacy was ranked the 15th top pharmacy program in the country by U.S. News & World Report.
