Cincinnati-based St. Vincent de Paul Charitable Pharmacy is on track to hit $100 million in free prescriptions by the end of October, ABC affiliate WCPO reported Oct. 5.
The pharmacy serves approximately 700 monthly patients, most of whom are without health insurance or cannot otherwise afford the medication. Eighty-seven percent of the pharmacy's medications are supplied through donations from local healthcare and drug companies; the rest are purchased by the pharmacy.
The pharmacy opened in 2006. In the first year, it filled about 7,000 prescriptions. In 2021, it filled 70,000, the report said.
