Eli Lilly to cut insulin price 40% by 2022

Eli Lilly said Sept. 28 that it will lower the list price of its insulin lispro in the U.S. by 40 percent Jan. 1.

The price cut brings the cost down to 2008 levels, the drugmaker said, and will apply to all Eli Lilly's non-branded insulins.

The list price for insulin lispro will be $82.41 for individual vials and $159.12 for a pack of five pens.

Eli Lilly said people who face higher out-of-pocket costs, such as those without insurance or with high deductible health plans, will benefit the most from the price drop.
