Drugmaker to shutter New York plant, lay off 56

Geritrex, a private-label drugmaker, will close its production plant in Town of Wallkill, N.Y., resulting in 56 layoffs, according to the Times Herald-Record.

The company told its employees it will begin the layoffs Aug. 18. The closure will occur later this summer.

Company officials cited a "shift to a virtual manufacturing model" as the reason for the closure.

Geritrex still has a plant in Mount Vernon, N.Y.
