Affordable drug advocates launch $1M ad campaign supporting Trump's pricing proposal

Patients for Affordable Drugs, affordable drug advocates, will launch a $1 million ad campaign to help one of the Trump administration's drug-pricing proposals gain traction, according to STAT.

The advocacy group wants to align U.S. drug prices with those in other economically similar nations.

"Big pharma's greed is forcing hardworking Americans to choose between groceries and their medications," Ben Wakana, Patients for Affordable Drug's executive director, told STAT. "HHS has a promising plan to use an International Pricing Index to bring U.S. drug prices more in line with drug prices in other wealthy countries."

The ad campaign touts HHS' plan to limit Medicare payments for physician-administered drugs to 26 percent above prices in certain developed nations. Currently, the costs of these medications are up to 80 percent above certain developed nations.
