Aktiv Pharma Group, a drugmaker based in Broomfield, Colo., plans to shut down two of its three plants and lay off 70 workers, according to multiple news outlets.
Aktiv makes injectable drugs, and it has been working on yearslong federal contracts worth more than $200 million to make antidotes for nerve agent poisoning and severe bleeding, according to the Denver Business Journal and Endpoints News.
In WARN notices filed in late August, the company said it will close its headquarters in Broomfield and one of its two facilities in Fort Collins, Colo. Aktiv was founded in 2008, according to its LinkedIn profile.
The company's CEO said "due to unexpected circumstances, the company must shut down substantially all of its operations" and lay off workers across the three plants, according to a letter obtained by Endpoints News.
Aktiv will continue operating as a contract development and manufacturing organization, according to Endpoints News.
