Roanoke, Va.-based Carilion Clinic recently purchased two robots to improve drug compounding in its pharmacies, according to local news station WDBJ7.
The sterile compounding robots mix medicines, fill syringes with drugs and insert medicines into IV bags.
The robots, known for being precise, help improve safety, efficiency and accuracy in drug compounding because it helps eliminate the chance of human error. It also gives pharmacists time back to focus on other pharmacy-related initiatives.
They also allow Carilion to save money without removing any jobs, according to WDBJ7.
