Bayer to cut 194 jobs in Indiana

Pharma giant Bayer will shut down operations at its last facility in Mishawaka, Ind., resulting in 194 employees losing their jobs, according to the South Bend Tribune.

The drugmaker will close its consumer logistics service center over an 18-month period.

It is unclear if affected employees will remain throughout the transition period.

"The site has played an important role in our company's history since 1978, but as we look ahead, Bayer must shift its strategy to remain competitive and successful in the marketplace," Bayer spokesperson Chris Loder told the South Bend Tribune. "Bayer has made the decision to move away from operating a local service center and transition toward an integrated global organization."
