Amazon starts marketing PillPack pharmacy services to Prime members

Amazon has started marketing PillPack, an online pharmacy service it acquired last September, to Prime members, according to TJI Research.

Some Amazon Prime users tweeted April 24 that they have received email marketing about PillPack.

"Meet PillPack, a new member of the Amazon family," the email reads. "Your medication sorted by the dose and delivered every month. Our service and shipping are free – you only pay for your medication."

It is unclear how many people have received the marketing email or how Amazon is selecting early recipients of the marketing.

Amazon has over 100 million Prime customers and may need to significantly increase the number of its fulfilment facilities to compete with the retail pharmacy competitors with home delivery, including CVS Health, OptumRx and Express Scripts.
