9 recent drug recalls

Here are nine recalls drug companies issued in March, as listed by the FDA.

Teva Pharmaceuticals on March 29 recalled one lot of its idarubicin hydrochloride injection, a treatment for acute myeloid leukemia, due to the presence of particulate matter.

Plastikon Healthcare on March 24 recalled three drug products — milk of magnesia oral suspension, acetaminophen and magnesium hydroxide/aluminum hydroxide/simethicone — due to microbial contamination.

Pfizer on March 22 recalled six lots of its Accuretic tablets due to the presence of nitrosamine. The company is also recalling two generic versions of the hypertension drug. 

Sandoz on March 21 recalled 13 lots of its orphenadrine citrate extended release tablets, used to treat muscle spasms and pain, due to the presence of a nitrosamine impurity. 

Adamis Pharmaceuticals on March 21 recalled two doses of its Symjepi injection single-dose syringes due to the potential for the needle to clog and prevent epinephrine from dispensing. 

Olympia Pharmacy on March 10 recalled 11 lots of seven compounded drugs after the FDA said they were out of specification. 

Fresenius Kabi on March 7 recalled seven lots of its sodium acetate injection due to the presence of particulate matter.

Tennessee Technical Coatings on March 7 recalled all lots of its hand sanitizer after the FDA found the product contained methanol. 

B. Braun Medical on March 3 recalled five lots of its sodium chloride injection due to fluid leakage or low fill volume.
