Allentown, Pa.-based Sacred Heart Hospital will cease labor and delivery services, which have been available at the hospital for more than 100 years, Oct. 10, according to LVB.com
Expectant mothers will be directed to St. Luke's Allentown Campus for childbirth services.
The decision to cease childbirth services is a result of Allentown-based Sacred Heart HealthCare System, the hospital's parent company, recently merging with Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke's University Health Network.
Sacred Heart will continue to offer gynecology services, prenatal visits, maternal fetal medicine and postnatal checkup visits at Sacred Heart OB/GYN Services, located in its family medicine center in Allentown.
