The report, "The Impact of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act on Inpatient Admissions," examined the effect on healthcare costs and utilization of the 2008 Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, which aimed to increase access to mental health and substance use services.

• Per capital spending on substance use inpatient admissions increased 28.9 percent.
