Poison control takes on Illinois Ebola hotline

The Illinois Poison Center is now managing the state's Ebola hotline, according to a report from the Murphysboro American.

The Illinois Department of Public Health designated the IPC to handle Ebola calls due to its ability to handle a large capacity of calls and easily disseminate information to a large number of the state's residents.

The IPC has previously served as the hotline for other viruses such as MERS and H1N1, according to the report.
