Huntingdon, Pa.-based J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital closed its labor and delivery unit Nov. 7.
The closure, announced in September, was attributed to years of financial challenges and a declining need for the service.
"While this is a very difficult and emotional decision for the hospital board, administration and staff, we feel it is a necessary decision to ensure the sustainability of the hospital and essential services needed by the community we serve," said Joe Myers, the hospital's interim administrator.
The hospital will continue other women's care services, including gynecology and prenatal care.
