Man shoots himself inside Indiana hospital

A 58-year-old man shot himself inside the emergency room at Madison, Ind.-based King's Daughters' Hospital on June 21, according to WDRB.

The man went into the hospital's ER and asked for help. He then took out a handgun

And shot himself in the chest, Jefferson County Sheriff John Wallace told WTHR. No one else was injured in the incident, which occurred at about 12:30 p.m.

The man was transferred to another hospital to be treated for his injuries. At last report, he was in critical condition.

Mr. Wallace told WDRB the hospital was put on a temporary lockdown but was given the "all clear" after the incident.

Although the shooting is under investigation, Mr. Wallace said it does not appear anyone at the hospital was a target.
