HCA to cease inpatient care at Houston hospital

HCA Houston Healthcare is eliminating inpatient services at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital in Houston and transitioning the facility to a freestanding emergency room.

The change is being made after an evaluation of the area's healthcare needs and the costs of operating multiple hospitals near each other, according to a statement on the hospital's website. After the transition, HCA will continue to operate several hospitals in the region, including 163-bed HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress.

As a freestanding ER, Cypress Fairbanks will become a campus of HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball (Texas).
