Englewood, Colo.-based Centura Health has shared plans to open four nonprovider-based Centura Health centers that will combine emergency and urgent care.
The aim of the centers is to provide local residents with "a convenient, neighborhood-based location that is integrated with the Centura Health system and help to fill the gap between an individual's healthcare needs and their primary care provider's availability," according to a Centura press release.
Here are five things to know about the new, hybrid centers.
1. Some of the stand-alone hybrid centers will have other health services — such as a practice of primary care providers — co-located on the property.
2. Each of the centers will be equipped to treat emergency conditions with services like digital X-ray machines, CT scans, ultrasounds, EKG and laboratory tests.
3. The centers are also connected to physicians and specialists from Centura Health and Centura's Colorado Health Neighborhoods who are on call for emergencies at all times.
4. Every hybrid center will also have a licensed emergency room and meets the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment licensure requirements.
5. The first two centers are slated to open in December, followed by the other two in June 2016.
