Baystate Medical Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston Medical Center, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital and Tufts Medical Center, all in Boston, have partnered with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to accept Ebola patients who originate anywhere in the state, according to a report from the Boston Business Journal.
The collaboration is in lieu of a centralized Ebola treatment center, a strategy which the DPH had reportedly been considering previously, according to the report.
While each one of the six hospitals is preparing to treat a single Ebola patient, DPH Commissioner Cheryl Bartlett said this does not make Massachusetts equipped to be hub for Ebola treatment in the region, according to the report.
