A nurse at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago recently raised money to deliver three Gamers Outreach Karts, or portable video game kiosks built for medical environments, to patients at the hospital.
Justin Molina, RN, led his online gaming community, family and friends in an effort to raise the money. Mr. Molina, along with a representative from the technology streaming startup Lightstream, then delivered the three GO Karts to the hospital.
The GO Karts can help children in the healing process. "Video games help a child cope with hospitalization and specific video games can provide a supportive outlet for expressing emotions as well as help with pain management," said Sara Stewart, a Child Life Specialist at Lurie Children's.
