Healthy Interactions joined forces with Merck to release a digital platform and mobile application in the U.S. that aims to enhance communications between diabetes patients and educators.
The map4health platform allows patients to connect with educators through text and video-chat as well as provides weekly digital activities to sustain patient engagement. Patients can choose to log health information that their educators are able to review and respond to within the platform.
The technology was developed as part of the Journey for Control patient-centric education initiative, established by Healthy Interactions, Merck and the American Diabetes Association in 2007. The initiative focused on developing tools to help healthcare providers improve diabetes management via patient lifestyle and behavioral changes.
The platform was unveiled at the 2018 American Association of Diabetes Educators Annual Conference in Baltimore, Aug. 17 to 20.
