Operating room "black boxes" are growing in popularity as a way to improve patient safety and operational efficiency, but not everyone is convinced the benefits outweigh the concerns.
A Becker's LinkedIn poll, posted Nov. 2, asked participants if the benefits of black boxes in the operating room outweigh the potential drawbacks. Of the 291 votes collected over three days, 34% said yes, 19% said no and 47% thought it was too soon to tell.
Some people in the comments brought up concerns around patients' rights, including if patients are told their surgery is being recorded and reviewed and if patients have the opportunity to opt out for their procedure.
