Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas, has brought on a robot to assist surgeons in the operating room, according to a NewsWest 9 news report.
The robot can help OR surgeons perform a wide array of procedures, including cardiovascular procedures that are less invasive and allow for quicker turnover and recovery times in the hospital.
John Molland, MD, said the robotic assistance would also lower the risk of blood loss and infection while allowing OR surgeons to perform more complicated procedures, according to the news report.
