Grand Junction (Colo.) VA Medical Center is nearing completion of its $14.5 million expansion project, which includes four operating rooms, an intensive care unit, a recovery room and a sterilization-processing room, according to an NBC 11 News report.
The contractor overseeing the project had also supervised construction projects at an elementary school that were found to be structurally inadequate. However, Grand Junction VA Medical Center Public Officer Paul Sweeney said the medical center's engineers have performed informal reviews throughout construction and are satisfied with the results, according to the report.
The hospital plans to open the new floor to patients in the end of March.
