Minn. launches anti-opioid ad campaign

A new anti-opioid advertising campaign in Minnesota targets families and friends of potential opioid abusers and aims to bring awareness to the increasing epidemic of drug abuse, according to MPR News.

Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson, who is spearheading the "Dose of Reality" ad campaign, is urging TV stations and movie theaters to run it.

The ad shows a woman trying to wake up an unconscious teenager and shows an open pill container nearby. "Michael, Michael, wake up!" she cries, according to the report.

"It's an ad that is intended to be jarring," said Attorney General Swanson, according to the report. "It's an ad that is intended to get people's attention to this really significant problem."
