The House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee will initiate a two-day hearing starting March 21 to consider more than 20 pieces of bipartisan legislation drafted to address the nation's opioid crisis, according to CNN.
Last week Greg Walden, R-Ore., chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, disclosed four bills that will be considered during the hearing. The proposed laws address issues related to funding for healthcare organizations to address opioid issues, standards for disclosing patient history of opioid use, research into proper opioid disposal and opioid-related research at the National Institutes of Health.
The committee plans to send all the opioid bills to the House floor for approval prior to May 28.
