Three nurses at Massillon, Ohio-based Affinity Medical Center fell ill and lost consciousness after treating an overdose patient August 11, reports Dayton Daily News.
Investigators believe the nurses were exposed to fentanyl when cleaning the patient's room. The nurses were successfully treated with the opioid overdose drug naloxone.
Fentanyl is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. The drug is so powerful, individuals can overdose by simply touching residual amounts of the substance.
