UofL Health in Louisville, Ky., has partnered with Cancer and Blood Specialists of Louisville to open a third location of the academic health system's Brown Cancer Center.
The new Brown Cancer Center location is an affiliate of UofL Health's Mary & Elizabeth Hospital and, according to a Nov. 2 news release. It will offer CT scans, PET scans, infusion therapy and radiation therapy, as well as provide patients access to clinical trials and immunotherapy.
The neighborhoods surrounding the new south Louisville location are among those with the most cancer deaths in Jefferson County, Ky., the health system said.
"Bringing the Brown Cancer Center to south Louisville is another UofL Health milestone to improve healthcare in medically underserved areas," said Melisa Adkins, BSN, RN, chief administrative officer at Mary & Elizabeth Hospital.
