Rutgers Cancer Institute names Dr. Matthew Matasar chief of blood disorders

New Brunswick, N.J.-based Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and RWJBarnabas Health named Matthew Matasar, MD, MS, as chief of blood disorders.

Starting November, Dr. Matasar will oversee the sections of hematologic malignancies, transplant and cell therapy and benign hematology. He will also serve as a professor of medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Dr. Matasar comes from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (Manhattan, N.Y.), where he worked in various leadership roles. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on blood cancers and bone marrow transplantation, and served as an adhoc reviewer for journals dedicated to hematology and oncology.

Dr. Matasar also belongs to the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology and is an elected member of the Board of Trustees for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society New Jersey Chapter.
