Mississippi health department to start free cancer survivorship program

The Mississippi State Department of Health has partnered with a patient engagement platform to provide free cancer survivorship services to qualifying state residents.

To launch the initiative, the state's health department partnered with Pack Health, a patient engagement platform, according to a June 21 news release. The 12-week program uses calls, texts and emails to provide personal health coaching to eligible cancer survivors, with an emphasis on topics related to participants' physical, financial, emotional and social needs.

Personal health advisors will provide one-on-one support to members, focusing on well-being beyond cancer treatment.

To be eligible for the program, participants must have finished primary cancer treatment or have ongoing long-term maintenance therapy, be at least 18 years old, live in MIssissippi, and read and speak English.

The initiative is funded by a CDC grant.
