Houston-based University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has launched the Institute for Cell Therapy Discovery & Innovation. Research at the institute will focus on immunology and cell engineering with the purpose of creating new treatments for cancer and autoimmune disease.
The institute will be led by Katy Rezvani, MD, PhD, with the support of an internal advisory council, a pipeline review committee and an executive advisory board, according to a Nov. 8 news release from the cancer center.
MD Anderson was able to establish the institute with philanthropic and institutional aid of more than $80 million, the release said.
