IU Health joins National Comprehensive Cancer Network

Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center became the newest National Comprehensive Cancer Network cancer center, making it the only member center in the state.

The center is also the only National Cancer Institute-designated center in Indiana and is home to the world's only healthy breast tissue bank, according to an April 4 news release.

By joining the alliance, the center will have a role in determining the recognized standard for clinical direction and policy in cancer management, and will also appoint expert clinicians to serve on more than 60 interdisciplinary panels.

"We are thrilled to become a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network," said Kelvin Lee, MD, director of the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center. "We look forward to sharing our expertise with NCCN and collaborating with many of the nation's leading cancer centers, which will ultimately benefit patients."
