Fox Chase names 1st deputy director

Fox Chase Cancer Center, part of Philadelphia-based Temple University Health System, has selected Elizabeth Plimack, MD, as its inaugural deputy director.

Dr. Plimack joined Fox Chase in 2008. She is chief of the division of genitourinary medical oncology and professor in the department of hematology/oncology at the cancer center.

As deputy director, Dr. Plimack will oversee Fox Chase's clinical and translational research plan. She will focus on programmatic scientific strategy, advancing the center's bladder cancer program, and the development of institutional diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

"Conducting world-class cancer science is an integral part of our Fox Chase mission and identity as a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center," said Jonathan Chernoff, MD, PhD, director of Fox Chase Cancer Center. "Strong leadership in this area is critical to supporting our research enterprise and to promoting progress and success. That's why I am so pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Plimack to this key position."
