Atlanta-based Winship Cancer Institute, part of Emory University, has selected Adam Marcus, PhD, to serve as deputy director, effective Aug. 1.
Dr. Marcus, a researcher who focuses on the metastasis of lung and breast cancers, replaces Suresh Ramaglingam, MD, who became Winship's executive director July 1.
As deputy director at Winship — Georgia's only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center — Dr. Marcus will oversee the integration of research, clinical and educational initiatives.
He joined Emory in 2006 and is a professor of hematology and medical oncology.
Dr. Marcus earned his PhD in biology at Penn State University, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in cancer pharmacology at Emory.
