Julie Gralow, MD, was named Woman Oncologist of the Year by Women Leaders in Oncology.
Dr. Gralow, a breast medical oncologist, is chief medical officer and executive vice president of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, according to an Oct. 16 news release from the organization. She has also served as director of breast medical oncology at University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle and was a founding member of the UW Breast Cancer Equity Initiative. She also co-founded Team Survivor Northwest, a nonprofit organization that aims to help female cancer survivors improve their health through fitness, and founder of the Women's Empowerment Cancer Advocacy Network, which supports patient advocates in countries with limited resources.
Women Leaders in Oncology also awarded Jaydira Del Rivero, MD, a physician scientist in the developmental therapeutics branch of the National Cancer Institute, as its 2023 Rising Star, the release said.
