Los Angeles-based City of Hope launched its new mobile program — the first in the country to provide mobile comprehensive cancer prevention and screening services for 15 cancers.
The program includes two advanced mobile clinics staffed by nurse practitioners, nurses, mammography technologists and support staff, according to a Feb. 26 system news release shared with Becker's. The clinics provide personalized screening recommendations and any necessary lab tests, genetic testing and vaccines for viruses that may be linked to cancer.
"Our comprehensive mobile cancer prevention and screening program is the next step in our mission to expand access to optimal cancer care, bringing our expertise outside the walls of our campus and into the communities we serve," Harlan Levine, MD, president of health innovation and policy at City of Hope, said in the release.
