Here are six recent cancer center openings and expansions:
- Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Houma, La., started construction on its $4 million expansion.
- Mercy Medical Center Redding (Calif.) will begin construction on its $70 million cancer center in 2023.
- The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora announced the creation of the Katy O. and Paul M. Rady Esophageal and Gastric Center of Excellence, made possible by a $20 million philanthropic investment from the Radys.
- Charlottesville-based University of Virginia Cancer Center expanded its services with an MRI-LINAC, a new technology which improves the accuracy and effectiveness of radiation therapy.
- Murfreesboro, Tenn.-based Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford is set to begin construction on its $60 million, 102,000-square-foot Ascension Saint Thomas Cancer Center next year.
- The Myeloma Research Institute launched at the University of Miami (Fla.) Miller School of Medicine's Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
