VUMC names director of nurse safety, wellbeing

Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center appointed Sarrah Spohnholtz, MSN, RN, inaugural director of nurse safety and wellbeing.

In her role, Ms. Spohnholtz will collaborate with nurses, clinicians, faculty and leadership teams to create an environment of workplace wellness, according to a June 29 system press release. She will focus on addressing mental health, physical wellbeing and occupational safety.

"We not only want the best nurses to join us, but we also want them to stay and design their careers here," Vanderbilts Executive Chief Nursing Officer Marilyn Dubree, MSN, RN, said in a March 30 news release when the position was first announced. "We do this by building an environment of resilience and well-being where nurses thrive."
