Phoenix Children's has selected Rhonda Thompson, DNP, RN, to serve as the system's chief nursing officer and senior vice president of patient services.
Dr. Thompson will oversee the pediatric health system's 1,400 nurses in her new role, according to an Aug. 3 news release. Most recently, she was the CNO at The Children's Hospital of San Antonio (Texas). Dr. Thompson has held a number of pediatric nursing leadership roles, including as director of pediatric special care services at Memorial Hermann in Houston.
Phoenix Children's also appointed Katie Penson, RN, as vice president of critical care services. In this role, Ms. Penson will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight and quality and performance improvement support in the neonatal intensive care unit, as well as the system's other critical care units.
